Day 1 (Dec 6)

The first important thing Timothy did was meet his sisters.
My mom and Kirk's mom woke up with the girls and took them over to Layne's house. She was kind enough to watch the girls so our moms could be at the hospital when Timothy was born. After we were settled back into our room the Grandma's went and got the girls to come meet their new brother. They got to wear their new dresses and were so excited to see Timothy. They walked into the room and Audrey immediately asked "mom, where's Timothy?" They then took turns looking at him and Audrey was instantly begging to hold him. Audrey loved cuddling him and touching his face. Kirsten wasn't so sure about holding him. When we asked her if she wanted to hold him her eyebrows arched really big, she got a scared look on her face, and shook her head no. She wasn't quite sure what to think about such a tiny person. The girls crowded around Timothy as the nurse checked him out and while he was bathed. As soon as Timothy was back in my arms Audrey climbed up on my bed and asked to hold him again. She was smitten by her brother just like we knew she would be. Kirk and his mom took the girls home for lunch and naps while  my mom stayed with me and we got settled into our postpartum room.
The girls came back that afternoon and while my mom held Timothy Kirsten came over and asked to hold him, as she held him for the first time she said "oh he's really cute". As the girls left the hospital a nurse asked them what they thought of their new brother. Audrey exclaimed that he was "adorable!" Kirsten said "he has short hair." Kirk and I decided that having a baby is actually a pretty great date night. Its quiet and romantic to snuggle with the little person the two of us help make. The doctor left Timothy's cord long and it hurt our poor guy anytime it was bumped, it was so sad. At the end of the night I decided to put a onesie and some pjs on him to see if it would help his cord stay in place. We tried to go to sleep but he kept screaming and nothing was calming him down. A couple hours later I realized it was probably the onsie bothering him, it was a newborn 5-8lbs onesie and he wanted me to know he was much bigger than that! We slept soundly from then on!
