Easter!

Finally time to post about Easter. (The baby inside me just leapt for joy, I think she's been waiting for a decent update!) It's going to be a long post, so we can remember the fun we had, so prepare yourself.
Thursday we woke up early and were out of the house by 7:45. We dropped Kirk off at school and Kirsten and I drove through the rain to Logan to pick up Brett. After a quick stop by my friend Camille's house, we picked Brett up off the curb in front of his house. (Who in the few minutes he was standing on the curb saw his ex-girlfriend who had dyed her hair red!). Brett wanted to thank Kirsten and I for coming to get him, so he took us to one of his favorite places in Logan, Gossners. Gossners is a dairy factory where he picked up a case of rootbeer milk. Don't let the name fool you, it's actually delicious!
We headed down the the airport to pick up Amanda who flew in from Colorado. Because of the weather and the stop at Gossners we were running about 1/2 an hour late...or so I thought. Leave it to a pregnant woman to get the departure and landing times mixed up. Luckily she was only coming from Colorado and we were already an 1/2 hour late, so our waiting time wasn't too bad (unless you ask Brett)
With all the time we spent on the road, naturally the discussion of semi's came up. Brett claimed to know the 'cadilliac of semi's' but just couldn't think of it. I asked Amanda what she thought the 'cadiliac' was and she responded "macintosh"! Times like these are why I love spending time on the road.
We spent the night at our house. It was nice to have all "our kids" back home. (In case you forgot both Amanda and Brett have spent a lot of time in our home and have each shared rooms with Kirsten) Kirsten was really happy to see both of them and wasn't warry of letting them hold her at all!
Friday was Amanda's birthday, so we stopped by Kneaders for all you can eat french toast. In case you haven't tried it, you should! The long drive out to Vernal landed us at Remember the Main were we met the family for picnic/easter egg hunt/birthday party/and wicked volleyball game. The volleyball game was the best! Kristy started the game off right by hitting the ball while facing backwards and then proceeding to topple over backwards...a Brinkerhoff volleyball game, yay! Kirk then split his pants (he only has one good pair of pants left...come on spring!) Spence went home and proudly announced to his Dad that "the other team sucked!" Are you surprised to know he wasn't on my team?
That night brought us over to Kristys house for the final leg of Amanda's birthday party. We played Amanda pictionary. Camille was given the task of drawing "Colorado" Lets just say she'll never live down the fact that she doesn't know geographically the difference between Wyoming and Colorado.
Saturday we went to Tridell for my Grandpa McKee's funeral. It was a really nice funeral, I loved learning more about him and hearing what each of his children had to say about him. All the grandchildren lined the sidewalk, in the pouring rain, while the pallbearers carried his casket out of the church. 9 children, 70 grandchildren, 63 greatgrandchildren (with plenty more on the way!)
We spent Sunday morning at the Howcrofts. Karen made a delicous breakfast us. Derik, Liz and family, and Jody came over. The kids hunted Easter eggs with gold dollars in them, was the race ever on! Kirsten covered the front yard and didn't miss a single egg. She tromped over to each egg (while holding my hand of course) picked it up then carried it to her Nana who was holding her Easter basket. It was adorable!
She wasted no time in digging out a chocolate bunny and devouring the chocolate. After Easter, Kirsten is fully aware of candy. Any time she hears a bag of any sort opening she comes running (or crawling at the speed of light, more specifically).
Liz bought Kirsten and Brixton matching dresses with matching shoes. They were pretty darn cute.
That afternoon we went to my parents and had a delicious Easter feast with everyone in the family minus my brothers out of Utah. We flew kites in the non existent wind, blew bubbles, played 500, teased Chelsey and had a great time.
Thanks for a great Easter everyone. It's nice to feel so loved. We are so greatful for the sacrafice of the Savior. The knowledge of His love is what has made us stronger during this time of trial in not being able to find a job.
Happy Easter!

  3. A macintosh? hmmm... I don't know which sibling I should be more concerned about. Probably Brett. He should know the Cadillac of semis is, without a doubt, the Volvo Big Rig. Even I know that. =)

  4. How cute! Kirsten's speed-of-light crawl anytime she anticipates candy being opened is adorable. Love her system of finding eggs and then giving them to her Nana. Your grandpa's funeral sounds like it was beautiful. What an impressive posterity he has, too! I'm glad you were able to be with most of your family for Easter! Kirsten and Brixton look so beautiful in their matching Easter dresses!! And Happy Belated Birthday to Amanda, also :)
