San Diego

Kirk and I celebrated our 7th anniversary by taking the girls to Sea World! We figured with a baby on the way it would be fun to do a get a way trip with our family of four while we still could. The night before the trip our house was chaos and we seriously considered not going, but when the alarm went off at 4 am we decided to make it happen. I am so glad we did! It was one of the funnest trips I've ever been on. It was so fun to be with my cute girls and handsome (patient) husband. We were able to leave Vegas by 5 am and pulled into Sea World at 10:30!
The girls didn't really know what Sea World was beforehand but it didn't take them long to get excited over real dolphins! We saw killer whales, dolphins, turtles, star fish all before the Shamu show.
Killer Whales
Dolphins!
Sting Rays
I was so excited for the girls to see the show. But they did not love it. Kirsten was worried about getting splashed the whole time and Audrey could only think about the people walking around selling pop. KIDS!
Not impressed
After the show Kirk took Kirsten on the rapids ride and she just thought she was the coolest thing ever. We had lunch then went to the 4D sesame street movie. Audrey cuddled up on my shoulder and was asleep within 5 minutes. She was exhausted and slept for the next 2 hours in the stroller.
Kirsten loved seeing the flamingos. Then Kirk and I each took a turn taking her to a show (we couldn't take a sleeping Audrey in the stroller and her nap was very much needed). Her and I got soaked during the dolphin show but she loved to see the "princess mermaid" who was really just a lady in a pink wet suit. :)
Flamingos! "Please can I bring one home?"
Seals and sea lions
Dolphin show with mom
Sea Lion and Otter show with Dad
Audrey woke up and we saw polar bears and penguins. Then we went to the kid area and the girls had a blast climbing, playing, and riding the rides.
Penguins!
When the park closed at 6 we were exhausted and so happy. The girls loved Sea World and Kirsten kept asking to "sea the whole world" on the way home. They each got a little stuffed animal in a purse and they carried them around for the rest of the trip (even burying them in the sand at the beach). We stayed at hotel near Sea World which was new but the bed was awful. Neither Kirk or I slept more than 20 minutes at a time. The hotel smelled of marijuana and the breakfast was not good. So Kirk canceled our second night and we went to a nearby Marriott. Thank goodness for free travelers points.
Two little monkeys jumping on the bed!
Baby dolphin and baby penguin being friends "mom take a picture!"
We spent Saturday at the beach. The girls were so excited to see the ocean and it did not disappoint. We spent 5 1/2 hours playing in the sand and on the water. It was so much fun! I told Kirk that if we knew, on the day we got married, what we would be doing 7 years later we would be mighty happy with how life was turning out!
7 years, oh my!
so dirty!
Family beach day!
She begged to be a mermaid but only lasted a minute, she did not like the sand blowing in her eyes
This girl loved being a mermaid and was buried twice that day
Mermaid and Merman
She LOVED the waves!
baby belly at the beach
So sad to get knocked down by waves
Exhausted from the beach!
We met Kirk mission companion for dinner that night. It was fun to see him and his girls that are the same age as our girls.
We planned to do something fun later that evening for our anniversary but both fell asleep by 9! Guess that's how you know it's been 7 years :) Sunday we swam then went to the San Diego temple.
Belly at the pool
They are mine forever :)
Wow that belly!
When we asked the girls their favorite parts of the trip Kirsten said Sea World and Audrey said the temple. It was so nice to just have fun with our family, without having another care in the world. We are indeed blessed with beautiful girls, who are so fun and make us laugh all the time.
